Installation Process
Step 1 – Assessment
Before you carry out any installation, you will need to check the property to ensure no obstructions. You will also need to take measurements, including the smallest sizes. Once you give this to Quickslide, we can manufacture Georgian-style windows made to measure.
Before you remove any existing windows, please ensure that you have the correct windows with the right measurements with you. You may need other equipment for removing the windows, so please check that you have all equipment with you.
Step 2 – Remove Existing Windows
Firstly, to remove the original Georgian style windows cut the sash cords from the bottom sash and take off the internal bead. This helps you to remove the bottom sash. Once this has been done, you can repeat this step for the top sash.
Once all sashes have been removed, carefully remove any leftover frame from the aperture. Be careful not to make the opening obstructive. You want to ensure that the opening is as smooth as possible for the new Georgian style windows.
Step 3 – Fitting The Windows
Once all the existing windows have been removed, you can place the new Georgian style window frame into position. When putting the window in place, it needs to be packed under the cill and levelled. Ensure throughout that is it in the correct position.
We advise using packers or wedges to hold the frame into position before fixing it. You want to ensure that the Georgian style windows are in a perfect position before they are fixed.
Step 4 – Fixing Windows
Once you are happy with the placement of the Georgian style windows, it is time to fix it in place. The screws can now be fixed in place with shims.
Step 5 – Finishing Touches
Once the Georgian style window frame and glazing has been fitted, it is time to complete the final steps. We advise using sealant to cover any parts of the window that must be discrete. The sealant also helps to protect the window from weather damage.
Before you leave the property, please check that the Georgian style window operates as it should. If necessary, after you have cleaned up the property, do a thorough handover with the property owner.
