When renovating an Edwardian home, there’s nothing worse than replacing all the beautiful traditional windows with plain windows that don’t suit the design of the house. Quickslide can manufacture stunning Edwardian style windows to meet almost any requirements. You don’t have to sacrifice looks when replacing the old with the new.

What are Edwardian Style Windows?

While the Edwardian era was a short one, there’s no denying the impact it had on home design. The most common style of windows seen in the Edwardian era was sliding sash windows with ‘six panes over two panes’. However, casement windows were also seen coming into fashion, particularly in a bay layout. We supply windows for many Edwardian renovations, and often see Edwardian casement windows with astragal bars creating a square of four panes at the top of the frame.

Manufacturing Edwardian Style Windows

Traditional Edwardian style windows were made from timber and handcrafted by artisans. While we don’t manufacture timber windows, we can create excellent timber replicas with our woodgrain foils on uPVC in our West Yorkshire state of the art facility. There’s no need to worry about transitioning from your original timber windows to more modern uPVC frames.

What’s even more exciting is that we’ve recently released new finishes on our windows and doors, including brand new dual colourways on our uPVC Sliding Sash Windows, as well as the option for white woodgrain on smooth white from stock. These new finishes are perfect if you’re looking for a new spin on traditional Edwardian windows, without detracting from the design itself.

Traditional Sash Window Features

Another way we can replicate traditional Edwardian style windows is with our range of heritage features. From astragal bars to run through sash horns, we’re committed to developing windows that perfectly combine contemporary technology with traditional charm. Energy Efficiency

Opting for a modern upgrade from timber windows to uPVC means your home will be more energy efficient. Your home will also insulate heat better – something even more important as energy prices rise. Our uPVC Sliding Sash Windows can reach a U-Value of 1.4 W/m²K, while our uPVC Casement Windows can reach a remarkable 1.0 W/m²K with triple glazing! Confused by U-Values and energy efficiency scales? Check out our blog to learn more.
