With the right glass unit, sliding patio doors are no less energy efficient than other windows and doors. The aluminium frame we use in the manufacture of our patio doors is thermally broken creating a barrier between the inside and outside sections, which prevents heat loss. A double glazed patio door can achieve a u-value of 1.6W/m2K and with a triple glazed glass unit, the doors can achieve a superb u-value of 1.5W/m2K.
