In-House Manufactured Bifold Doors
Powder-Coated Aluminium
Our range of aluminium doors is made using powder-coated aluminium profiles from our long-standing extruder, Smart Systems. Powder coating involves applying dry powder to the aluminium, which is then cured under heat to create a uniform finish. This coating acts as a protective barrier against harsh weather conditions, significantly prolonging the lifespan of our doors.
Polyamide Thermal Break
To enhance thermal efficiency, our aluminium doors incorporate a polyamide thermal break. This non-conductive material is placed between the inner and outer sections of the aluminium frame, effectively reducing thermal transmittance and improving energy efficiency.
Corner Bonds
Aluminium doors aren’t typically welded in the traditional sense used for uPVC. Instead, the assembly and joining method for our aluminium double glazing involves precision machining, where the profile is cut to size, following advanced bonding techniques that include the use of high-strength adhesives.
External Square Sash
Our edgy square sash provides a sleek and contemporary aesthetic, moving away from the more dated round sash. This change not only modernises the look but also blends seamlessly with various architectural styles, making it a versatile choice for any setting.
122mm Sightlines
The sightlines of only 122mm, create large, uninterrupted openings. This feature maximises the amount of natural light that can enter a space and provides a more expansive view. The slim profile provides a more elegant connection between indoor and outdoor environments.
“Tap in” Quick-Glaze Bead
Our innovative Quick-Glaze Bead simplifies the installation and glazing process. With the glazing gasket integrated into the profile, you can swiftly tap the gaskets into place, completing the glazing efficiently. This feature reduces installation time and effort, making the process much more user friendly.
Optional Horizontal Bars
Give your bi-fold doors a heritage edge with our optional Art Deco-style horizontal bars. Inspired by the popularity of slimline steel-look doors – these bars bring a timeless, industrial feel without losing the modern performance you need.
Multi-point Locking Mechanism
Security is paramount with our standard 5-point locking mechanism applied to all independently opening traffic doors. This high-security mechanism has been accredited for its reliability and strength, providing peace of mind that your home is secure. The multi-point locks ensure that the bifold doors are firmly secured at multiple points, making them resistant to forced entry.
Stainless Steel Rollers
Our bi-folding doors glide smoothly on stainless steel rollers for easeful operation. The high-quality rollers are designed for durability and longevity, providing a consistently smooth and easy opening and closing experience.
Threshold Options
Opting for a recessed threshold offers numerous benefits, such as easy access for people with mobility issues and reducing trip hazards for young children. The low threshold option is not only practical, but it can also create a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces.
Adjustable Jamb
For configurations of 4 panels or more, our adjustable jamb simplifies the installation process by allowing for quick and easy squaring. The adjustable jamb offers minor adjustments on either side, making the installation process faster and more accurate.
Trickle Vent
In compliance with 2022 Building Regulations, our bi-folding doors can be fitted with trickle vents to ensure adequate airflow even when the doors are closed. These vents are essential for maintaining good indoor air quality. You have the option of choosing the classic Link Vent (5000EA) which is fitted into a 42mm add-on or you can opt for the sleek flush vent (2057EA) fitted into the head of the bifold sash. Displayed is the most popular flush option.

Glazing Options
Double Glazing
Glass is the dominant part of a bifold door composition, so it must be quality. We use 28mm double glazed argon gas filled units in each door, with a warm edge spacer bar made from an extruded PVC material specifically designed to reduce transference. The glass used in our aluminium bifold doors is comprised of 4mm toughened glass on one side and 4mm clear Low E toughened glass on the other.
Triple Glazing
Our triple glazing upgrade is made up of three panes of glass with argon gas within each of the two pockets. Triple glazing work in the same way as double glazing although with triple glazing you get an extra pane of glass and an extra insulation barrier. The extra pane of glass offers better insulation values.
Spacer Bars
Spacer bars are placed around the perimeter of the glass panes to provide essential structural support and maintain consistent spacing between the panes. Choose from our selection of three distinct bar finishes to complement your door’s aesthetic and enhance its overall appeal.

This upgrade features two 3mm pieces of glass are put together with an interlayer that can act a noise reducing interlayer. A key benefit of laminated glass lies in its safety features. It’s designed to stay together if broken, rather than shattering into lots of sharp pieces.
Venetian Integral Blinds
Venetian integral blinds offer a stylish and functional option for bifold doors. Integrated directly into the double-glazed unit, these blinds provide homeowners with privacy and control over natural sunlight. And the best part? They won’t collect any dust! The blinds are available in 10 different colours, ensuring a seamless and personal solution for any space.

FAQs
View All FAQsWhich system do you use for your bi-fold doors?
In September 2023 we switched to the slim bi-fold doors system ‘Visofold 1000 Slim’ featuring the innovative Quick-Glaze Bead with integrated gaskets that are simply tapped-in on site – an installer’s dream! This new system also features slimmer sightlines and a contemporary square sash in place of the outdated rounded sash.
Which is better: bifold doors or sliding patio doors?
It really comes down to the opening and your preference. If you want a spectacular uninterrupted opening on to a fine patio and/or sculpted gardens, then you should consider a bifold door.
A great choice for superb uninterrupted views all year round is sliding doors. They use more glass and less frame. Considering the British summer weather, the aluminum doors will spend just as many days closed as open.
How much do aluminium bifold doors cost?
As each bifold door is bespoke and made to your exact specifications, it’s difficult to provide a general price. You can request a price for a set of bifold doors here on our website. If you require a full-service including survey and installation, you can enquire a price via one of our stockists. Use our ‘Find an Installer’ tool for the latter.
Do bifold doors add value to a house?
Yes, bifold doors can add value to a home by improving the quality of the space and enhancing natural light. As patio doors, they offer a stylish choice that modernises the property and improves indoor-outdoor flow. This makes them a desirable feature and having patio doors can make the home more appealing to potential buyers.
Do you offer a low threshold option for your bi fold doors?
Yes, we offer different threshold options including a low threshold and a low threshold with ramps, which helps to create a seamless transition between the indoors and outdoors. With the addition of the ramps the threshold will comply with Part M of the Building Regulation (DV174).
What is a bifold door?
Bifold doors are a versatile solution perfect for almost any home. Choose from a variety of door configurations ranging from two panels to eight panels with multiple profile options. Whatever the specification, enjoy ease of access between indoors and out, with the door panels folding neatly at the end.
